Our work reaches orphans, women and people who have been marginalised, people who often missed out on school due to extreme poverty, conflict or discrimination. Our practical education projects give people the skills and resources they need to make change happen, giving them a new start and turning their hope for a better future into a reality. Why Education? AFrican ark college of management sciences believes that education makes a world of difference. Education is the key to tackling poverty, improving health and building brighter future in Uganda Globally, more than 700 million people still live in extreme poverty (UN). There are also over 773 million adults with no literacy skills, and around two thirds are women (UNESCO). We know there is a link between low literacy and poverty, and women with low literacy are particularly vulnerable. Gender discrimination, a problem experienced by many around the world, often exacerbates issues for women living in marginalised communities. For example, globally: 750 million women and girls were married before the age of 18; in 39 countries, daughters and sons do not have equal inheritance rights; globally, women are just 13 per cent of agricultural land holders; and one in five women and girls have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner within the last 12 months (UN
